Christ offered salvation to all people, inviting them to participate in the life of the Church, that is, in God's new world. God loves everyone and everyone separately. He is the Good Shepherd, who does not hesitate to give up ninety-nine sheep temporarily, in search of the one that has been lost, to bring it back to the Shepherd and save it (Luke 15: 3-7). The radiance of his divine speech awakens people's souls and invites them to discover a true treasure that resembles none of the precious objects or goods that surround us and consider them important.
Many times Christ spoke with parables, such as that of the Good Shepherd, that is, small stories of everyday life, but which conceal deep truths within them. In the following brief parables, Christ sought to reveal to us what is and how important the Kingdom of God is to all of us.
"The Kingdom of God," said Christ, is like a treasure hidden in a field. Someone, when he found him, hid him again and for the joy that flooded him, he sold all his possessions to buy this field. Once upon a time there was also a merchant, picking up beautiful pearls. But when he found a wonderful and truly valuable pearl, he sold everything he had to buy this unique one ”(Matt. 13: 44-46).
Both of these men sacrificed all their possessions to gain what they considered most valuable. This is the important truth that our Lord invites us to understand through these parables: To enter the new world that Christ Himself opened, in the Kingdom of God, which "is not of this world" (John 18.36), it is worth sacrificing what is considered valuable to the world.
